Just four more days till our one month staycation in Maui. I’m starting to panic because I have so many things to take care of for the photography side of my business. Since I won’t be able to access my desktop for so long, I have such a long list of things to before leaving. As for packing, we don’t go crazy with the packing. Even if we miss things, we can always buy when we’re there. Even with diapers and wipes, we pack whatever we need to tide us over for a day or two and buy the rest when we get there. Anything to help lighten the load. Same with toys for the kids. They take what they can carry on the plane. We plan on surprising them with a new toy of the plane in case they get crazy. As for carry-ons, we pack a few diapers and wipes into Roman’s backpack and he carries that for us. We also pack Rhys’s backpack with snacks for the plane ride. Those snacks are especially helpful during taking off and landing so their ears don’t hurt. The goal is to keep them chewing during take off and landing. So now that we have everything we need pack in the kids’ backpacks, it leaves me and the Giant hands-free to hold Cole or the kids’ hands. So to recap, here’s what we do when traveling.
-Pack what’s needed. The rest can be bought at your final destination like diapers and wipes. Those items take up a lot of room in the luggage.
-Carry on as little as possible so it’ll leave you hands-free to handle the kids throughout the airport.
-If you need to carry on small items, pack them in your kid’s backpack and have them help out. They love being little helpers
-iPad with movies (preferably new movies they haven’t seen)
We’ve been told by sooooo many parents how shock they were at how light we pack or how shock they were at us for not carrying anything with us on flight. Follow these tips and it’ll make your flights stress free and hopefully, more enjoyable for everyone.
