Do it for the ‘gram. As in, hike up a mountain in a tulle skirt all for a desert fashion photo shoot. Come on, you know you’ve always wanted to live on the wild side. Recently took a 2,380 mileage run from Chicago to Arizona just to maintain Elite status with United Airlines, and spent a whirlwind 36 hours in the desert with one of my best friends, Tiffany. She knows all the best locations to shoot in Arizona, and Salt River at Coon Bluff here is no exception. (Also lucky for me, Tiff insisted I take her boots because I was planning on doing the hike in my flip-flops.) That desert sunshine, wide open views, are just what I needed (and am craving right now) to escape the bitter, white winter at home. I chose outfits that were flowy in fabric and saturated in color, like my favorite Bliss Tulle blue skirt. I wanted to emphasize them against the simple beauty of the desert background, using the natural wind to create movement in the flowing fabrics. Hope you enjoy my first desert photo shoot – stay tuned for Part 2 coming soon!
Happy spring! If you’re an avid follower, then you know that I adore dresses and skirts. Anything flirty, feminine–and usually, the swingier the better. It’s been rainy and cold here in Chicago, but I finally caught a break to take a little twirl in this gorgeous blush pink Hayley tulle skirt courtesy of Bliss Tulle. Pair it with a romantic lace top (also from Bliss Tulle) and you’re all set for a daydream.
Just for fun, here’s a little-known fact about me: I always wanted to be a ballerina growing up. But that never happened, although I did become a competitive salsa dancer for a few years. I miss those dancing days SO MUCH!
I’ve worn several tulle skirts, but this Bliss Tulle skirt is hand constructed with the perfect amount of frothy layers… giving just the right “oomph” to your look. Stay tuned to see another pretty Bliss Tulle skirt which I packed to take with me to the tulip fields of Holland… and trust me that these skirts won’t fall flat and you’re guaranteed to feel like a dainty dancer. What do you think? Come take a twirl with me?
This entire week has been a week of celebrations after celebrations. Rhys, my spirited middle child, turned three so we celebrated his birthday party at Funtopia. More on that in a separate blog post.
Yesterday, this blog turned one year! I feel like I’ve been blogging for way longer. My Instagram now also has 40k followers. I remember a year ago when I started posting pictures on Instagram, I had less than 500 followers and seeing other bloggers having 10k plus seems like such a far goal to reach. I never in my wildest dream would imagine this little blog of mine can grow this big this fast. I’m so grateful to all my friends that supported me. Mainly my girlfriend, Jamie. She’s been my rock throughout this even when I doubted myself. Of course I have my biggest thanks to my Instagram husband, my Giant. Without him, I wouldn’t have these beautiful pictures to post. He learned a VERY long time ago that all the groans and complaining will only delay a shoot. So he knows to keep quiet. Lol.
I can’t wait to see what a year from now will take this blog but so far, it’s been AH-mazing!!!!
Happiest New Year! Happy to be back into the groove of things. Here are some of my favorites from our holiday card and another from when we were in Florida a few weeks ago. Being a photographer by profession, I’m so blessed to have great many talented photographer friends. Our holiday card session was cancelled and rescheduled so many times due to weather. On the day of this shoot, we left the boys’ shoes at home so they were forced to wear their snow boots. Lol. Classic us. It was quick and my kids were wild and crazy, as usual. Our Florida shoot was another quick one. I think it was like ten minutes! Lol. We were losing light and the kids weren’t interested so we just let it be.
Do I have any new years resolution? I don’t typically give myself one. When I do, it’s always to cook more. I love food and a huge foodie but cooking, not so much. What I would LOVE to do more this year is travel. Travel, travel, travel. While vacationing, our rental had a DVD player in the car. O.M.G. I don’t know why it took me sooooo long to think about getting one for mine but wow, it was like discovering a magical unicorn. I kept everyone QUIET! So I think with a DVD player in my car, we can now travel long distances.
I would like to hear some of your resolutions if you have any?
